Latest Travel Guidelines for Passengers coming to India

The Government of India has given fresh guidelines for international travellers. As per the latest travel advisory, RT-PCR negative report is a must for all international tourist arriving in India. Apart from this, all airlines have been asked by Govt. to check negative COVID-19 test reports before allowing any travellers from the UK to India to board. The Standard Procedure (SOP) came into force on October 25, 2021.

The new procedural guidelines will be followed for the travellers coming to India from the United Kingdom, Germany, Armenia Nepal, Serbia, Lebanon, Belarus, Ukraine, Hungary Belgium and France. Besides, extra measures will also be followed for travellers arriving in India from the countries at-risk namely; United Kingdom, China, Zimbabwe, Bangladesh, Botswana, South Africa, Mauritius, New Zealand and Brazil.

Here’s a list of things passengers should do before start planning a trip to India:

Before Boarding

  1. List of Do’s and Don'ts shall be given along with ticket to the passengers by the airlines concerned.
  2. Airlines will allow boarding to only those travellers who have filled in the Self Declaration Form on the Air Suvidha portal, and also uploaded the negative RT-PCR report.
  3. At the time of taking the flight, only travellers with no symptoms will be allowed to take flight after thermal screening.
  4. All traveller must download Aarogya Setu app on their mobile phones.

During Travel

  1. All airlines should prepare in-flight announcement about COVID-19 including precautionary measures to be followed at the airports and during transit.
  2. During the fly, crew shall ensure that COVID appropriate behaviour is followed at all times.
  3. If any passenger reports symptoms of COVID-19 during flight, he/she shall be isolated as per protocol.

On arrival

  • Deboarding must be done ensuring physical distancing.
  • Thermal screening should be carried out in respect of all the travellers at the airport.
  • The self-declaration form filled online must be presented to the airport staff.
  • The travellers found to be symptomatic during screening must be immediately isolated and taken to medical facility as per protocol. If any passenger tested positive, their contacts shall be identified and managed as per guidelines.
  • Travellers from specified Countries at risk will follow the protocol as detailed below:

(a) If Passenger is coming from a Country with which India has arrangements for acceptance.

     (i) If fully vaccinated:

They are allowed to leave the airport and will self-monitor their health for 14 days’ post their arrival in India.

   (ii) If partially or not vaccinated:

The Passengers have to do the following measures:

  • They have to Submit sample for post-arrival COVID test at the place of arrival after which they can be allowed to leave the airport,
  • They have to be home quarantine for 7 days,
  • They have to undergo re-test on the 8th day of arrival and if negative, they have to further self-monitor of their health for next 7 days.

(b) If passenger is coming from a nation excluding those covered under Category (a), they would be required to do the measures suggested above, no matter, even if they are fully vaccinated.

6. Travellers from Countries excluding those Countries at risk, will be allowed to leave the airport and shall self-monitor their health for 14 days’ post arrival.

7. Travellers under home quarantine or self-health monitoring, if develop signs and symptoms suggestive of COVID-19 or test positive for COVID-19 on re-testing, they will immediately self-isolate and report to their nearest health facility or call National helpline
